robots are people too

This was a sketch, a digital short, for The Mystery Hour. This one is fun because it relies on one joke, at the very end. All great comedy plays on truth, and the truth of this one is that everyone can relate to hitting the “reCAPTCHA” button declaring the fact they they are not a robot. This one also plays on empathy, I mean, what about the person that can’t honestly click that button?

quick analysis

This is a fun one in terms of comedic analysis. This video is mostly setup, featuring one joke. That’s risky. On top of that, we go a little too long for the payoff on purpose. The viewer keeps expecting it to come, keep expecting it to come, keep expecting it to come, and that delayed gratification makes the payoff bigger—it was pent up. One joke, that’s all there was.
