Just husbands
Fossil and 360i reached out with an idea for a perfect Instagram Husband followup. They had recently launched a new watch, the Fossil Q Hybrid, that combined the face of a traditional watch, with some of the functionality of a smart watch. Most importantly, the Fossil Q Hybrid had a selfie button—you could set up your phone to position the perfect picture, then take the picture with a button on your watch. Now, for the first time, Instagram Husbands became dispensable.
We treated it like a movie sequel, keeping the original characters in this video to see how their lives changed after the Fossil Q Hybrid. We were able to keep the funny tone of the original video, while showing the innovative effectiveness of the feature.

What’s fun about creating a sequel is that all the backstory has already been told in the first one. The comedy that works in this one is taking these characters from the original video and either playing into their quirks further, or playing against them creatively. This one also works because the messaging was so simple and so well connected to the original, nothing felt forced. Forced doesn’t work in comedy.
